PM-KUSUM solar pump support

Depends

Individual farmers, groups, cooperatives, panchayats and farmer producer organisations can get support for standalone solar pumps and for solarising existing grid-connected pumps. Central and state subsidies together cover a large share of the cost; the exact share and pump capacity are fixed by your state's implementing agency.

Who is not eligible

Applications outside the state's sanctioned quota for the year are not taken up, and a pump capacity larger than your landholding and water source justify will not be approved.

Documents needed

  • Aadhaar card
  • Land record for the field where the pump will be installed
  • Bank account passbook
  • Proof of an existing water source such as a well or borewell

Deadline

State agencies open application windows against an annual quota. Apply as soon as your state opens registration for the year.

How to apply

  1. Open your state's PM-KUSUM registration portal, or apply through the district agricultural engineering office.
  2. Choose the pump capacity suited to your water source and land, and pay the farmer's share.
  3. An empanelled vendor installs the system; keep the commissioning certificate and warranty papers.

If rejected

  1. Ask the district agricultural engineering office whether the year's quota was exhausted.
  2. Correct land-record or water-source documentation and apply in the next window.
  3. Ask whether a smaller pump capacity would be approved for your holding.
