Small and marginal farmers aged 18 to 40 with cultivable land up to 2 hectares in the land records can join. You pay a monthly contribution — ₹55 at age 18 rising to ₹200 at age 40 — the central government matches it, and a minimum pension of ₹3,000 a month starts at age 60.

Who is not eligible

Farmers below 18 or above 40 at entry, and those holding more than 2 hectares of cultivable land, cannot enrol. Members already covered by other statutory pension or social security schemes are generally excluded.

Documents needed

  • Aadhaar card
  • Savings bank account passbook with IFSC
  • Land record showing holding up to 2 hectares
  • Mobile number

Deadline

Enrolment is open all year. The monthly contribution depends on your age at joining, so joining younger costs less.

How to apply

  1. Visit the nearest common service centre with Aadhaar and your bank passbook.
  2. The village level entrepreneur registers you and collects the first contribution; you sign an auto-debit mandate.
  3. Collect your Kisan Pension Account Number and pension card, and keep the auto-debit account funded each month.

If rejected

  1. Check whether the land record shows more than 2 hectares, or whether your age at entry is outside 18-40.
  2. Correct any Aadhaar or bank mismatch at the common service centre and re-apply.
  3. Contact the scheme helpline if the record is correct but enrolment still fails.
