CAN I GET THIS?

Kisan Credit Card (KCC)

Yes

Farmers who cultivate land — as owners, tenants, oral lessees, sharecroppers or members of joint liability groups — can get a Kisan Credit Card for crop and allied needs. Short-term crop loans up to ₹3 lakh carry an interest subvention, with a further rebate for prompt repayment.

Who is not eligible

Applicants with an unresolved default on an existing agricultural loan are usually refused until the earlier account is regularised.

Documents needed

  • Aadhaar and one more identity proof
  • Address proof
  • Land record, or tenancy/sharecropping proof
  • Passport size photographs

Deadline

Applications are accepted throughout the year at any bank branch that handles agricultural lending.

How to apply

  1. Take your documents to a bank branch that does agricultural lending, or apply through the bank's online KCC form.
  2. The branch fixes a credit limit from your crop, area and the district scale of finance.
  3. Activate the card, and repay within the season to keep the prompt-repayment interest rebate.

If rejected

  1. Ask the branch manager for the written reason; banks must record it.
  2. Clear any earlier default or correct the land/tenancy document that was questioned.
  3. If the refusal seems unjustified, raise it with the bank's grievance officer or the district lead bank.
