About PM-KUSUMUK

The scheme “Pradhan Mantri Kisan Urja Suraksha Evam Utthaan Mahabhiyan Yojana (PM-KUSUM)” is implemented by the Department of Minor Irrigation, Government of Uttarakhand. The scheme aims to promote clean and affordable irrigation by replacing diesel pump sets with solar-powered pump sets, reducing farmers’ irrigation costs, enhancing energy security, and increasing farmers’ income through sustainable and efficient use of solar energy. The scheme follows a funding pattern of 50% Central share, 30% State share, and 20% farmer share.

Benefits

Under the scheme, farmers receive an 80% subsidy on the cost of a solar pump set from the Government of India and the State Government, while the remaining 20% of the cost is borne by the farmer. The scheme allows individual farmers to convert their diesel pump sets into solar pump sets of up to 7.5 HP capacity, which helps reduce expenditure on diesel and lowers production costs, thereby increasing farmers’ income.

Who can apply (eligibility)

  2. The beneficiary must be a farmer engaged in agricultural activities.
