About PMAAGY

The scheme "Pradhan Mantri Adi Adarsh Gram Yojana (PMAAGY)" by the Ministry Of Tribal Affairs, Government Of India, aims to transform villages with high Scheduled Tribe population into model villages through providing financial assistance for infrastructure gap filling and socio-economic development to the tribal communities. The scheme focuses on villages having at least 50% ST population. It supports the preparation and implementation of Village Development Plans. Funds are utilized for critical infrastructure gaps not covered under other schemes. Convergence with other Central and State schemes is encouraged for holistic development.

Benefits

Who can apply (eligibility)

General Eligibility

  • The village must have at least 50% Scheduled Tribe (ST) population.
  • The village must have a population of at least 500 in plain areas; 250 in hilly/tribal areas.
  • The village must be selected by the State/UT Government based on criteria defined in the guidelines.

Preference / Priority

  • Preference is given to villages with higher ST population concentration.
  • Priority is given to villages with significant infrastructure gaps.

How to apply

Offline application

Step 1: The State Government/UT Administration identifies eligible villages.

Step 2: A Village Development Plan (VDP) is prepared for selected villages.

Step 3: The plan is approved at the district and state level.

Step 4: Proposal is submitted to the Ministry Of Tribal Affairs.

Step 5: Funds are released after approval.

Step 6: Implementation is carried out by local authorities with monitoring mechanisms.
