Broiler and chick rates

What the state rate sheets published for live birds, dressed birds and day old chicks.

These are industry rates, not government data. They are set by state poultry associations and they are what the trade quotes, not a price any authority fixes. A live weight rate and a dressed weight rate are different things, so they are never added together or averaged here.

No rate sheet has been collected yet. Nothing is shown rather than a figure carried over from an earlier day.

How to read this

A live weight rate is for the bird as it stands. A dressed rate is for the cleaned carcass. The 2 are never comparable.
Strains differ in what they fetch, so each strain keeps its own row and no strain is averaged into another.
Where a sheet prints no unit, the unit column says so. Nothing is assumed.
There is no national broiler rate. Anyone quoting one has averaged states that do not trade with each other.
