Sown with the south-west monsoon and harvested after it. The main season for most of India.

RabiOctober to March

Sown as the monsoon withdraws, grown on residual moisture or irrigation, harvested in spring.

ZaidMarch to June

The short summer season between rabi and kharif. Needs irrigation and suits quick crops.

Year roundAny month

Planted once and cropped for several years, or sown whenever water allows.

Nothing in this list is normally sown in Sep. Try another month or clear the filters.

Before you sow

These are broad windows, not dates. India spans many agro-climatic zones and your district may differ by 3 or 4 weeks.
Check your nearest Krishi Vigyan Kendra or state agriculture office before sowing. They publish the window for your block.
Sowing to the rain, not to the calendar, is almost always the better call.
