Jakarta, one of the world’s densest cities, is sinking. Many coastal cities are under similar threat and facing the impacts of climate change such as storm surges and cyclones, while other cities in Europe and North America are facing impacts of forest fires and intense precipitation leading to flooding and landslides.
It is no longer about mitigating climate change. It is more about assessing the risks and preparing for the impacts that are now upon us.
How are cities preparing themselves for the future? Is a fundamental review of planning from an ecological perspective required?
